Each Monograph is a short, but detailed, explanation of a specific time-saving or break-through technique that adds sophistication and power to your applications, coupled with one or more example libraries included to demonstrate that technique (and perhaps some variations). The subject matter in these Monographs may eventually appear in an Omnis Reference Library or Component Companion volume at some time in the future (along with many other related subjects and more verbose explanations), but this way a developer can have the critical details of techniques for various Omnis Studio features now as opposed to waiting for a book that may not be written until years from now (like one on Reports). Some of these techniques may combine processes detailed in the subject matter of multiple Omnis Reference Library or Component Companion volumes and so may never appear in any one of them. Some of them may also assume that the reader already understands some basic principles, so not all aspects of the technique come with detailed explanations. (I assume the reader understands where code is located and how to use the Method Editor, etc.) Every effort is made, as always, to give you good value for the dollar spent. That said, there is no warranty given, expressed or implied, as to the efficacy or utility of these techniques for any given application. I am in no way liable for the success of your product or business based upon your purchase of these technique explanations. Also, purchase of these Monographs is not an expressed or implied contract for any technical support regarding these techniques or any other use of Omnis Studio. They come to you as is. Additional support is available at reasonable rates, as listed on my web site at http://www.polymath-bus-sys.com/omnistraining.html under the Fee Schedule link. If your request for paid assistance under the Telephone Consultation (which can also be performed via email) fee is used as the basis for a future Monograph, you will receive that Monograph for free. (If a Monograph already exists that should meet your needs, you will be directed to purchase and study that first, as this will probably save you both time and money.) Development and publication of both the Omnis Reference Library or Component Companion book series will continue (as will my contributions to the Omnis Tech News, for which I am compensated by Raining Data Corporation), but each of those volumes requires a great deal of time to write. That effort must remain a part-time occupation until the critical mass of 400 SmartList members is achieved. These Monographs will hopefully provide some much needed cash flow to help support me in the larger effort of producing these two major book series. Thank you for your support! |
