Products In Development

We also have a number of products in various stages of development. Some of these have been available in past generations of Omnis, but are now being updated to the most recent version. Others are completely new, having been requested by readers of our Omnis Tech News articles or by attendees at conference or training sessions.

Global Context
(open code)

In development

Collections of International address, telephone and currency window, report and remote form components that reconfigure and reposition themselves based on the Country Code of the current record (or row variable or list line) to conform to the standard form for that country. Over a year of research was done to get the proper mappings for each country. This is already in use in one client application after being shown at a few Omnis conferences in various stages of development. Currency and cellular phone issues for a few countries remain to be resolved before release.

Icon Librarian
(tool library)

In development

An expansion on the Omnis Studio 4 Icon Editor that allows for easier management and manipulation of icons and icon pages, including an editor view that allows the user to break an icon image into its four component channels (red, green, blue and alpha) for greater ease in making alpha channel masks (at least for those with Photoshop experience). More details to follow.

Color Consultant
(tool library)

In development

This product allows the developer to offer "color schemes" with an application by supporting multiple #COLORS tables and allowing the user to switch among them. More details to follow.

htmlGenerator
(open code)

In development

An object class that minimizes the tedium of building valid HTML for ultrathin Omnis Studio web applications and other HTML output. An early version of this was distributed at some of my web client classes, but the object has been significantly enhanced since being returned to development.

Fake Folks and Bogus Businesses
(application)

In development

An application for creating unlimited numbers of real-looking test records for common database needs. People, businesses, products and a number of other common database elements can be simulated using this tool. US Zip Code and Area Code data will properly map when exported to demographics applications, but names, street addresses, telephone numbers, Social Security numbers and other data are completely fictional. Extremely useful for generating test data for proof-testing applications - and fun for the whole family! Anticipated Omnis Studio 4 comercial release before July 31, 2006.

Black Boxes
(add-on libraries)

In development

A collection of object classes that offer various custom functions from many fields of endeavor. Accessor methods for constants included. More details to follow.
